We’re sending 4 members to the conference, taking place in Winnipeg (October 7-10). The National Sector Council Conference brings together members from across the country to share information about work in their sectors. The conference is a great opportunity to learn and strategize with CUPE leaders and activists.
Conference fees, flights and hotel rooms will be paid by CUPE Local 1505 and delegates will be booked off work (meaning delegates will not have to use their vacation time. Employer cooperation is required).
To spread the opportunity across the various units, here is the delegate breakdown:
- Transportation Sector: 1 member from the Transit unit or FMAA unit
- Healthcare Sector: 1 member from Rotary House unit
- Municipal Sector: 1 member from RMWB unit and 1 member from RRC unit
If you’re interested in attending the conference, you can nominate yourself at the next membership meeeting (likely the week of August 12-16). If more than one member in your unit is nominated, an election will be held to determine who will go to the conference.
